THE TREVOR PROJECT

The Trevor Project is a nonprofit with the goal “to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people” through crisis services, research, advocacy, peer support and public education. My tenure as Marketing and Design Specialist spanned 2013 - 2015.

Infographics

The Education department would often go into the community to provide training to many communities. With this mission, a workbook was created that featured more colorful and engaging infographics. Here is a snapshot of one of the pages:

In order to support Trevor’s effort to push legislation to protect LGBTQ youth, the Government Affairs department needed one-pagers to provide concrete, statistical evidence of the lack of support. Here is a snapshot of what was created for all 50 states.

Annual Reports

Trevor’s Annual Report microsites were designed and developed by a small team of employees, producing infographics and overall visual themes to display the organization’s programmatic and financial information via charts, graphs, word clouds, etc.

Event signage and swag

As one would expect, The Trevor Project participates in Pride in both New York City and Los Angeles. This representation is so important for LGBTQIA+ kids: it serves to minimize feelings of isolation and mitigate self-harm and deaths by suicide.

Fundraising opportunities like TrevorLIVE LA and TrevorLIVE NYC (among many others) produced the brunt of financial support that made it possible for Trevor to provide lifesaving support services to young LGBTQIA+ people.

Social media campaign graphics

The Trevor Project is sensitive to the intersectionality of multiple identities within the LGBTQIA+ community. Frequently, the marketing department would produce a series of graphics (#blacktranshistory and #reallivetransadult) to highlight those identities so the youth they serve would see and know that there are successful adults who share their layered identities.

Editorial

Trevor’s Government Affairs staff, the National Association of School Psychologists, American School Counselors Association, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention joined forces to create a guided framework for school districts to implement regarding suicide prevention.
